According to new reports, WWE Intercontinental Champion Daniel Bryan has reportedly been taken off WWE’s European tour that is taking place until April 20. As previously noted, WWE is trying to protect Bryan from any further injury, as he is apparently in bad shape following his return to in-ring competition on Jan. 15.
Bryan did compete during the April 14 “Smackdown” tapings, teaming up with WWE United States Champion John Cena to battle the WWE Tag Team Champions Tyson Kidd and Cesaro, which can be seen on the SyFy Network on April 16. However, Bryan was then removed from all further WWE Live Events scheduled overseas.
As previously reported, Dave Meltzer of “Wrestling Observer Radio” claims that Bryan’s health is question, and WWE is worried about the repercussions of having him compete more than necessary. While the company wants Bryan to have a long career in WWE, as well as a long run as the WWE Intercontinental Champion, they also do not want him to become permanently injured while competing in their ring.
Bryan is slated to defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Bad News Barrett at “Extreme Rules” on April 26. Until that match, Bryan will likely only compete in tag team matches, or merely appear in backstage and in-ring segments, so that there is little to no chance of his injuries becoming more serious before the PPV.
Editor’s Note:
If Barrett is to come away from “Extreme Rules” as the Intercontinental Champion, then it may be “bad news” for Bryan’s career for sure.
