Daniel Bryan Officially Stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Daniel Bryan has been officially stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The Authority opened the June 9 edition of “Monday Night Raw” with the announcement, claiming that Bryan would be stripped of his championship due to his inability to compete at “Money In The Bank” on June 29. 

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon showed a video of Dr. Maroon, the surgeon that performed the surgery on Bryan’s neck just a few weeks prior, on the Titantron. During the video, Dr. Maroon claimed that Bryan will not be able to compete during June, but will be re-evalutated in the upcoming weeks to determine when the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be able to return to action. 

The announcement confirms rumors regarding Bryan’s recovery from neck surgery and WWE’s plans moving forward. A new champion will now be crowned on June 29, and Bryan will have to chase them upon his return if he wants to be WWE World Heavyweight Champion again.

The main event for “Money In The Bank” will now be a WWE World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match. This could lead to two ladder matches taking place during the event, which would lead to one for the championship, and one for a title shot. Currently, the only competitors confirmed for the Championship Ladder Match are Alberto Del Rio and Randy Orton.
