WWE Intercontinental Champion Daniel Bryan is expected to compete at “Payback” on Sunday, May 17. He is also slated to appear during “Monday Night Raw” on May 11 in order to set up a match between himself and possibly King Barrett.
Bryan has been reportedly struggling with an undisclosed injury since the beginning of April, when he was sent home from the company’s Live Event tour of Europe. Reports have waffled on what injury Bryan has been actually suffering from, with a concussion being rumored, as well as nagging ailments connected to the injury he had surgery for during the Summer of 2014.
While WWE remained vague on what Bryan has actually been trying to rehabilitate, PWInsider.com claims that Bryan will appear during the “Payback” go-home edition of “RAW” on May 11, and then work an actual match at the May PPV on May 17. It is believed that Bryan will compete against the man he was supposed to face at “Extreme Rules” in April before he was put on the injured list, King Barrett.
Bryan would only be allowed to compete in a match for the company again if the WWE medical clears him to do so. If he’s passing impact tests and other evaluations, then his injury may not have been as serious as previously thought, and very well may have been a concussion. The timeline for concussion recovery matches up with his time away from the ring.
WWE likely hid the fact that it was a concussion that sent Bryan to the sidelines due to the lawsuits the company is facing regarding “physical brutality” superstars experience working for WWE. This is considered to be the same reason why the company has removed Seth Rollins’ Curb Stomp finish from his repertoire for the time being.
Editor’s Note:
Well, it seems like he’s returning for at least one more match. Seems like a month out would have only been a concussion, which seems understandable due to the gash that was opened up on his forehead during the last televised match we saw him compete in.
