With “Payback” almost here, an exclusive source to WrestlingRumors.net tells us that WWE creative is already looking ahead to the company’s annual “SummerSlam” and “Night of Champions” events. As we previously reported, WWE executives are nervous about initial six-month WWE Network subscriptions ending in September before “Night of Champions,” and will be booking the show as if it were a “Big Four” event, such as the “Royal Rumble,” “SummerSlam,” “Survivor Series,” or WrestleMania.

The company hopes to not only get current network subscribers to renew their agreements, but they hope to draw in non-subscribers as well. The WWE Network is expected to launch in the UK prior to “SummerSlam” in August, which the company hopes will bring in some new customers. With the current financial state of World Wrestling Entertainment being what it is, company officials want “SummerSlam” and “Night of Champions” to deliver big and pull in as many new WWE Network subscribers as possible.

Multiple main events are already being discussed for each event, which should feature some of the biggest names in the company. As previously reported, a Sheamus heel turn is iminent, and he will likely feud with John Cena soon. A match between the two could possibly happen at “SummerSlam” and “Night of Champions.” A feud between Sheamus and Randy Orton is also on the table, as well as an Orton face turn.

Daniel Bryan is not expected to have the WWE World Heavyweight Championship taken off his shoulders either. WWE writers are scripting possible angles to use between Bryan and the Authority moving past “Payback,” which will likely see Bryan and Kane finally have their rumored Buried Alive Match at the “Money In The Bank” event. However, Bryan could then face WWE’s resident “Eater of Worlds,” Bray Wyatt at events past “Battleground.”

This is contrary to other reports that claim Cena and Wyatt’s feud could last until “SummerSlam.” Backstage, some feel like Cena and Wyatt’s program has run its course and will need to end by “Money In The Bank,” if not at “Payback” on June 1.

Word coming from people backstage says Wyatt and Bryan have been heavily discussed as the next feud for the champion following Kane. The two worked together in 2013, which saw Bryan lose their last PPV match together at the “Royal Rumble.” In the same light, some believe that Wyatt may turn babyface before that program takes place. If not, Wyatt will likely see a face turn following his work with Bryan.

Brock Lesnar is scheduled to appear on both “SummerSlam” and “Night of Champions” cards, as previously reported. He is penciled in to face Cesaro at both events currently. However, cards are always subject to change, and Bryan could face Lesnar at one of these events. Lesnar is primed for a championship match, as the man who conquered the streak has been claiming that he is the real No. 1 Contender for the title since January.

As previously reported, Triple H vs. Roman Reigns is still penciled in for at least “SummerSlam,” as the company believes that Reigns could be the next “Rock” of the company. With the latest edition of the WWE Magazine teasing a split between The Shield soon, WWE creative team members seem to be heading that way very soon.

There are other names being discussed backstage as possible big-time players at these events. Chris Jericho, who is rumored to be returning prior to the June 29 “Money In The Bank” event, could be used in a number of different ways. Batista, who is about to take time off to promote the Summer blockbuster “Guardians of the Galaxy,” is also believed to be returning at least by “Night of Champions.”

The company believes that they’re going to have to pull out multiple main events at these events for people to really want to see them, and with the current “main event” roster pretty thin, stars like Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Randy Orton will have to step up as well in the next few months to remain relevant after Evolution and The Shield both dissolve. Ambrose is expected to feud with either Rollins or Orton once each faction falls apart.

Multiple routes could be taken for each main event, but one goal remains the focus of WWE executives: Provide cards that people really want to see. This way the WWE Network will continue to have subscribers, and possibly gain a few more.

Editor’s Note:
I trust our source very much. If he’s telling me these are the feuds/matches/names being discussed backstage for the big Summer events, then I believe him. What would you like to see moving forward? What matches would get you to subscribe to the WWE Network if you aren’t already paying for it? Give us your feedback below.
