It had been previously reported that WWE has been in talks about hosting a Women’s Tournament on the WWE Network. Those talks were confirmed today by the ‘WWE Games’ Twitter account, who announced that a tournament will be taking place this summer:

It is unknown at this time the details of the tournament, who will be competing, etc. However, Triple H said on Twitter that 32 women from 17 countries will be competing in the event.

This tournament will be the next in a series of tournaments that have been showcased on the WWE Network. Last summer, the Cruiserweight Classic was met with high acclaim, while the recent UK Tournament also did very well with the fans.

There have also been rumors of an Asian Tournament, but that has not been announced at this time.

At WrestleMania this Sunday, two high profile women’s matches will be on the card. Bayley will be defending her “Raw” Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks, Charlotte and Nia Jax in a Fatal 4-Way match, while Alexa Bliss defends her “Smackdown” Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch, Carmella, Natalya, Mickie James and Naomi in a Six-pack Challenge.

Editor’s Note:

Yes! I cannot wait for this. There is so much female wrestling talent around the world, and to have it all in WWE will be a game changer for not only the company, but for women’s wrestling in general.
