In a story first confirmed by Justin LaBar of Wrestlezone.com, WWE has signed top independent star and former Ring of Honor World Champion Kevin Steen to a deal.
Rumors have circulated for quite some time over the possibility of Steen heading to World Wrestling Entertainment. A timeframe for his debut with the company is still unknown at this time.
It appears that Steen’s last match with ROH will be against Silas Young at the upcoming “Best in the World” pay-per-view in June. He’s still advertised through several other events during the month as well.
Steen is a one-time ROH Champion and one-time ROH Tag Team Champion with El Generico (Sami Zayn in WWE).
Editor’s Note
This is a HUGE get for WWE and NXT. Steen was a big fish in a small pond (with all due respect) in ROH, so it was only a matter of time before he tested larger waters while working for Vince McMahon. If used correctly, Steen can be a huge asset to the main roster.
