Former TNA star “SuperMex” Hernandez made his return to the company during the June 24 airing of “Impact Wrestling” on Destination America.
As The Beat Down Clan and Rising brawled in the ring, Hernandez emerged to lay out Rising member Drew Galloway with his signature move, The Border Toss.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter previously reported that MVP had been recruiting Hernandez to make a return, as he wanted the former TNA World Tag Team Champion to be a “heavy hitter” for the BDC with Samoa Joe leaving for Ring of Honor and, eventually, NXT.
Hernandez was reportedly under contract with Lucha Underground, making his return to TNA programming noticeably in conflict with that agreement.
Because of this, it’s now believed that Hernandez, who hadn’t wrestled for Lucha Underground since the television tapings on April 18, is now officially done with that promotion.
Another point of emphasis is Hernandez being booked to work for the All Elite promotion in an upcoming main event. Since Lucha Underground doesn’t allow its wrestlers to fight in Mexico for companies that are direct competition to AAA, the writing is on the wall for Hernandez cutting ties with that brand.
Editor’s Note
Hernandez is certainly a “heavy hitter,” fitting in seamlessly with the heel faction. I dig it.
