At “TNA Slammiversary” on Sunday night, it was announced that Team 3D (Bully Ray and Brother Devon) would be the newest inductees to the TNA Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Per Thomas Hall’s results page of the pay-per-view, here’s a look at how the announcement went down:
Here’s Kurt Angle to announce the newest Hall of Fame inductee. Angle talks about how being in the Hall of Fame means you’ve earned respect forever from the boys in the back and the fans. The inductee is……Team 3D in a bit of a surprise. A loud and long WE WANT TABLES chant goes up and we go to a wide shot of the arena for some reason.
Bully can barely get a full sentence out as the fans are chanting WELCOME BACK. They accept the induction because of every single one of the fans. D-Von says he wasn’t going to come back to TNA but if he’s going out, he has to be by Bully’s side after all their history together. Catchphrases and poses close out the segment.
Team 3D are one-time NWA World Tag Team Champions and two-time TNA World Tag Team Champions.
Both superstars went on to have success as singles competitors as Bully Ray became TNA World Heavyweight Champion on two occasions, while Devon won the TNA Television Championship twice as well.
Bully Ray lost to Ethan Carter III in a “Texas Death Match” later on the show.
Devon left TNA on Aug. 23 of last year after losing a match to AJ Styles. It’s not yet known if this will be a full-fledged return or just a one-time appearance for his induction.
Team 3D now joins Angle and Sting as the only members of the TNA Hall of Fame.
Editor’s Note
The only other names that even warrant consideration for the TNA Hall of Fame are Samoa Joe, Jeff Jarrett and AJ Styles. Maybe Bobby Roode, Eric Young and James Storm. Team 3D deserve the honor, but it says something about the company when all of your HOF inductees are not home-grown talent.
