The original plan for the “WWE Money in the Bank” special event on June 29 was for there to be one Ladder match. It would either be for the MITB briefcase or the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, depending on the health and status of Daniel Bryan.
According to a report by F4WOnline.com, those plans may change in the next couple of weeks.
WWE is concerned that if they go through with a Championship Ladder match as the main event, that would leave the ‘Money in the Bank’ gimmick off the show entirely.
To fix that, the company is considering having two Ladder matches. One would be for the belts and one would be for the briefcase.
The fate of the card rests in the hands of Bryan, who is still experiencing some difficulties and setbacks with his rehab after recent neck surgery.
If he’s cleared to compete, Bryan will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a Stretcher match against Kane.
Alberto Del Rio defeated Dolph Ziggler last Monday night on “RAW” to become the first confirmed participant in MITB.
Editor’s Note
Two Ladder matches? Yes please. The merger of the WWE and World Heavyweight Championship belts cancelled out the possibility of two bouts at the event, but this could work. Will there be enough credible superstars to fill both matches? That remains to be seen.
