While SPIKE has granted TNA Wrestling an extension to continue airing “Impact” through the remainder of 2014, the feeling backstage is that they will not remain with the network beyond that timeframe, per F4WOnline.com.
Why is that the case? The aforementioned report notes that SPIKE wants to get out of the pro wrestling business completely as they consider TNA a “lame-duck product.”
There are still ongoing negotiations, however, they aren’t said to be serious and are merely a formality at this point in time.
The belief is that TNA has indeed found a new home (network) for “Impact,” albeit a very small one.
SPIKE is willing to keep TNA programming on their lineup until the transition is made, but that agreement will be void at the end of 2014.
How close that relationship will be until the process is complete remains to be seen.
The team at Chair Shot Reality reported on Aug. 8 that the real reason SPIKE cancelled TNA “Impact” is because the network wanted at least 10 percent ownership in the company, something TNA president Dixie Carter would not oblige to.
Editor’s Note
I don’t have the slightest clue as to which network TNA will be on if a new network has been found. It’s certainly good news should the report be accurate, but even so, the financial backing SPIKE gave the company during their time on the air won’t be matched wherever they end up.
