The original plan for “WWE SummerSlam” was to have a match between Cody Rhodes and Goldust. Their split at “WWE Payback” on June 1 was supposed to set off a chain of events that would result in the two brothers feuding and squaring off at the big event.
Now, according to F4WOnline.com, that may end up being scrapped.
The match Cody Rhodes and Goldust take part in at “WWE SummerSlam” will depend heavily on whether or not Rhodes can get over with his new Stardust gimmick.
If the gimmick is successful, Stardust/Goldust will challenge for the WWE Tag Team Championship. If it flops, Stardust will be dropped and the brothers will face each other instead.
Stardust debuted this past Monday night on “Raw” as a surprise partner for Goldust. The duo defeated Ryback and Curtis Axel rather convincingly.
Editor’s Note
Is it weird that I’m actually digging Stardust? It’s a testament to Cody and his ability to take any gimmick he’s given and make it work. Fans ate it up, so if I had to place any bets, it would be on Stardust running through the summer.
