WWE Diva AJ Lee called out Stephanie McMahon on Twitter on Feb. 24, stating how women on the roster aren’t used on television and paid as much as the men.
Stephanie responded by saying she appreciated AJ’s opinion, although it was later reported that she was furious over the tweets and the embarrassment it caused her over social media.
AJ returned to WWE programming on the March 2 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” helping Paige thwart off the Bella Twins. It was her first appearance since losing her rematch for the WWE Divas Championship to Nikki Bella at “WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, Chairs and Stairs.”
Current plans are for AJ and Paige to battle Nikki and Brie Bella in a tag team match at WrestleMania 31 on March 29 at Levi’s Stadium.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE had wanted to book that match prior to AJ’s tweets at Stephanie.
While the company could always acknowledge the tweets on television in some capacity, there are reportedly no plans to do such a thing any time soon.
The Authority is currently involved in several high-profile storylines, primarily with Sting, Randy Orton and even John Cena to an extent. Involving them in a feud so low on the card doesn’t seem likely.
Editor’s Note
Such a shame. Had this animosity come to light sooner, perhaps we’d be getting a Stephanie McMahon vs. AJ Lee match at WrestleMania 31 instead.
