During the Jan. 6 Old School edition of “Monday Night Raw,” many legends from wrestling’s past appeared in Baltimore, Md. such as Jake “The Snake” Roberts, who may be on his way to entering the 30-man Royal Rumble match. The show, which featured Brock Lesnar and Big Show clashing, Roman Reigns beating CM Punk, and Daniel Bryan’s first match as a Wyatt Family member saw a huge increase in viewership.

According to TvBytheNumbers.comthe show averaged 4,537,000 viewers, which is up substantially from last week’s number of 4,128,000. The first hour started off hot with an average amount of 4,723,000 viewers but then decreased to 4,427,000 for the second hour. The third and final hour saw a slight increase in the average amount of viewers to 4,463,000.

The noticeable increase should be pleasing to WWE as it went up against heavy competition. The BCS National Championship game was aired across multiple ESPN channels as a part of its “Megacast” for the game. The game which saw Florida State University defeat Auburn University brought in 25,572,000 viewers.
