In the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the newsletter reported that TNA has been losing money on some of its live events in late 2013 going into early 2014. TNA drawing poor attendance for its live events is nothing new but Wrestling Observer elaborated on the toll that the poor attendance has on the company.
In order to cover what it owes, TNA often has to pay the facilities in which it rents out for the live events due to the low-attendance figures. TNA operates under this route, instead of the usual methods of other businesses which sees the arena get a cut of the final settlement.
Particularly, Wrestling Observer touched on a time in December where a TNA live event was held at Temple University. Due to the low attendance at the event, the company had to write a check for $15,000 to the university because TNA was unable to cover what it owed for renting out the facility with the money that came in for the event.
However, TNA live events drawing poor attendance is not always a certainty. In TNA’s recent tour of the United Kingdom, its attendance for its show grew exponentially, drawing over 5,000 fans at an event in London.
