On Friday, Feb. 20, the Twitter account of Citi Field, the home to Major League Baseball’s New York Mets, was cryptic in teasing that a professional wrestling event will come to the stadium for the first time in its existence at some point in 2015.

Upon the initial tweet, which can be seen above, many wrestling fans thought Citi Field would be hosting the 2015 “SummerSlam” pay-per-view. WWE’s biggest summer event is slated to be in the New York area, with no definitive location currently set due to the closing of the IZOD Center.
However, in a follow-up tweet, the Citi Field Twitter account noted that the 2015 “SummerSlam” event will not be the first pro wrestling event held there:

In due time, a Twitter user would correctly identify the event. Though, Citi Field will not make an official announcement until early next week, the last week of February in 2015:

In Citi’s Field predecessor, Shea Stadium, numerous WWE events were held there during the 1970s and 1980s. In fact, Shea Stadium hosted the only in-ring meeting between Bruno Sammartino and Pedro Morales.
Editor’s Note
If it’s not “SummerSlam,” perhaps it it some WWE live event or house show, seeing as the Twitter account stated “not quite.”
