According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE officials are getting closer to picking the location for the 2015 and 2016 WrestleMania events. As of now, one of the front-runners to hold the storied event in wrestling is the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The stadium has not been opened yet, but will be the home of the San Francisco 49’ers starting in 2014. The stadium is also scheduled to host the Super Bowl in 2016. Its capacity is expected to be around 68,500, which can be expanded to 75,000. Unlike MetLife Stadium, Levi’s Stadium would not be able to hold over 80,000 people and possibly set another attendance record. If Levi’s Stadium is chosen, expect the following RAW and Hall of Fame ceremony to be at HP Pavilion, home to the San Jose Sharks. However, there is also said to be a major Northeastern location in the running.
As we previously reported, WrestleMania XXX will take place in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The thirtieth anniversary of sports entertainment’s biggest spectacle will be the first time that the annual event will be hosted in New Orleans. It’s very likely that WWE will set the attendance record for the Mercedes-Benz SuperDome, which can hold more than 76,000 people.
