Leading up to WrestleMania 31, English WWE star Bad News Barrett started a Twitter “feud” with Manchester United star forward Wayne Rooney. Back in February, it stared with Barrett teasing Rooney for what Barrett saw as a “dive” in Rooney’s match against Preston North End:

With WWE recently wrapping up its mid-April tour of Europe, former Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett, WWE’s top England draw, has been doing media rounds. He recently spoke with English football website Squawka.com, and his previous “feud” with Wayne Rooney came up.
Barrett believes Wayne Rooney could fare well in WWE due to his universal hatred:
“I think Wayne Rooney would be great in the WWE – I mean he’s universally hated. He’s very good at getting booed, very good at getting a reaction. He’s obviously a great athlete, the question is; is he up to the task of stepping into the ring with some of the toughest guys in the world like me? That remains to be seen.”
Editor’s Note
It would be nice to see WWE integrate some English sports stars and celebrities on its programming when it heads overseas. Though, WWE prefers to utilize more mainstream American celebrities, so I can see why it doesn’t happen.
