What a wild weekend this is going to be. As NXT Takeover: Dallas is only a few hours away, the rumors are flying all around Dallas and the rest of the wrestling world about what could happen tonight and during the rest of Wrestlemania weekend.
However, a rumor from the past is cropping up again with some serious momentum. Apparently, WWE has a least one big surprise planned for Sunday night, and they have a certain someone in mind for a return to the company.
A few months ago, the rumors of Bill Goldberg making a return to WWE reached a fever pitch. They ranged from him wrestling a match on the grandest stage of them all to possibly being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
As of this writing, nothing has come out of those rumors, but they’ve come up out of thin air again just as Wrestlemania is less than forty-eight hours away.
In the past, the former WCW and WWE Champion has discussed his desire to change the final note of his career in WWE. In fact, he said the following a few months ago about his final match with Brock Lesnar:
“At the end of the day, we were up against an impossible task to entertain a group of people that 100 percent know you are both leaving after that match. Utter [disdain] is what we received from the fans. Would I change anything about [it]? Yeah, I would change everything about it. At the end of the day, if you take it for what it was, it was an interesting match. The overtone was so skewed; it was just such a weird situation and insurmountable task. Would I change anything? Yes. Would I change everything? Yes.”
This remains a rumor for now, but the speculation is hot and you never know who could show up at Wrestlemania. There is no rule that says Goldberg can’t show up for a cameo or a surprise appearance and then leave. It would sure make for a huge Wrestlemania moment.
