He got it back. Titles are one of the most important things in the wrestling world. A championship is the way that fans figure out who the top stars in the company are supposed to be. In addition, they are often the focal point of major storylines as wrestlers try to win any championships they can. A title change can mean something and now that has taken place again.

The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw Samoa Joe defeat Darby Allin in an anything goes match to become the new TNT Champion. The win makes Joe a two time champion and ends Allin’s reign at 28 days, the second shortest in the title’s history. Allin had defeated Joe to win the title on January 4 and had defended the title four times over the course of his reign. It was made clear that there would be no rematches.

Opinion: That’s a bit of a surprise title change as Joe gets the title back about a month after losing it in the first place. There are no rematches so in theory this is going to lead to something new for Allin. What matters is they had a hard hitting match that felt like a main event. I’m not sure where things are going next, but at least they had a heck of a match to get there.
