Hand them over. Titles are some of the most important plot devices in all of wrestling. Any fan can understand the idea of a wrestler holding a championship means that they are a bigger deal, which is why a title change can be such an important moment. These are rare in the first place, but this week saw one of the more unique title wins that you will have recently seen.

This week on AEW Collision, Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara defeated the Kingdom to win the Ring Of Honor Tag Team Titles. The win makes Rhodes a double champion, as he is already one third of the Ring Of Honor Six Man Tag Team Champions along with the Von Erichs. Rhodes and Guevara only began teaming earlier this month, when Guevara returned and said he wanted to earn Rhodes’ respect.

Opinion: This feels like part of the bigger story of the Texas wrestlers for the Arlington residency, which has been going on for a few weeks now. I’m not sure how long this will last after the residency is over, but it is certainly a good time to be Rhodes at the moment. To go from barely appearing on television to being a double champion is not bad and it is all the more impressive given how far Rhodes is in his career at the moment.
