The Original Ending to Al Wilson/Dawn Marie Wedding Story Revealed

I’m not really sure what to say about this. So in case you’ve blocked it from your memory, there was a storyline back in 2002 where the gorgeous Dawn Marie started dating Torrie Wilson’s father Al. This turned out to be a way for Dawn Marie to, shall we say, have a shot at Torrie herself, which resulted in a rather infamous vignette of the two of them in a hotel room. At the end though, Dawn Marie married Al and then killed him by overworking him on their honeymoon. As goofy as this sounds, it actually could have been a lot worse.

Former WWE writer Dave Lagana recently appeared on the “Solomonster Sounds Off” podcast to discuss a variety of issues, including the Dawn Marie/Torrie Wilson storyline. It turns out that the idea originally had a very different ending which could have been even more ridiculous. Here’s the original idea with transcription courtesy of 411mania.com.

“Dawn [Marie] would have shtupped him to death. Al would have been in the casket. Torrie would have been there crying,’I’m sorry, dad. I should have accepted you being in love with Dawn Marie. I’m sorry, I wish I could have one more minute.’ And then Al was going to sit up in the casket [having faked it], and he would’ve said, ‘You’re a terrible daughter.’ And he would have cut this heel promo on his daughter, he would have walked out the front of the funeral home and then he would have gotten hit by a bus and he would have died. Vince loved it, but we never got to do it, sadly. I never told that story, and probably for good reason because it’s terrible.”

Original: What do you even say to this? The story was infamous for one segment but somehow the whole thing was spread out over about four months. Based on recent interviews, there’s a possibility that Dawn Marie’s part was originally going to go to Trish Stratus but she turned the part down. To Stratus’ credit, she got a lot more famous for her in-ring skills instead of bad comedy segments, which is all this would have been.
