And NEW! Titles are a big deal in any wrestling promotion and the reason is rather simple. Any fan can understand the idea that a big shiny title around someone’s waist makes them that much more important. It makes a difference when someone wins a title, especially if they haven’t done so in a long time. That is what we are seeing again, as a title change took place this week.

The opening match of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw Maxwell Jacob Friedman defeat Will Ospreay to win the International Title for the first time in his career. Opinion: That was a heck of a match as it got all kinds of time and Friedman getting the title adds a bit of prestige to its lineage. If nothing else, Ospreay is now free to deal with someone else, while Friedman is currently set to face Pac at All In. I’m not sure how that is going to go, but they did at least have a rather outstanding match to set it up, which is quite the accomplishment.
