It took some time. There are several kinds of stories that can be presented in wrestling but one of the most common that has taken place over the years has been a feel good title win. Seeing a popular, if not beloved star, finally winning the big one can be a great moment, especially if it is done right. That was the case again this weekend and now we know more about it.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: Important Detail On New WWE Tournament

The main event of this weekend’s AEW All In 2024 saw Bryan Danielson defeat Swerve Strickland to become the new AEW World Champion, his first title in the company. According to Fightful Select, Danielson had previously pushed back against the idea of winning titles until company President Tony Khan convinced him to do it here. Khan had wanted the ending of All In to be Danielson winning the title and the decision was made as far back as April. There were also said to have been jokes made about a “reverse Montreal Screwjob” to make sure Danielson won the title.

Danielson has done things in AEW. Check out his time in the company:

Opinion: Danielson not wanting to win a title is a long running idea in AEW and that is not a bad thing. Danielson’s career has long since been made and he did not need to win anything in the company to make himself a bigger deal. For now though, AEW has convinced him to take the top prize, which could do quite a few good things for everyone involved, including Danielson himself.

What do you think of the title win? Who should take the title from Danielson? Let us know in the comments below.
