Almost There? Major Update On Kenny Omega's Return To The Ring

That’s a good sign. There are all kinds of ways for a wrestler to be put out of action and unfortunately several of them are due to health reasons. You never want to see someone injured or ill in some way but it happens to everyone from the top of the card to the bottom. It happened to a top AEW star and kept him out of action for months, but now we know a lot more about his planned return.

Kenny Omega has been out of action since December 2023 due to recovery from diverticulitis. While he has made appearances, he has yet to return to the ring. This week at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Power Struggle event, Omega said that he wanted to have a match at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, 2025. Later in the show, he got in a backstage brawl with Gabe Kidd, though no match was officially made. It is not clear if Omega will wrestle before Wrestle Dynasty or when he will return to AEW TV.

Opinion: This is good to see as you never want to have someone on the sidelines for any amount of time, especially almost a year like Omega in this case. This seems like he will be back in January at the latest, but hopefully he is back before then. If nothing else, it would be a shame to see him lose that much ring time, as his health has already stated failing him in recent years and it would be awful for him to miss even more time.
