Before coming to WWE, Hardy competed under his ‘Broken’ persona all over the world, after creating the gimmick in Impact Wrestling. When he came to WWE at ‘WrestleMania 33,’ with his brother Jeff, they had resumed their old Hardy Boyz characters.
Fans always wanted Hardy to be back as ‘Broken’ as he was before coming to WWE, because the gimmick was so well-received over the wrestling world. So finally WWE acknowledged what the fans and Hardy himself wanted, creating the ‘Woken’ Matt Hardy character.
While fans were skeptical of the gimmick change, Hardy himself has explained that there is a distinct difference between being ‘Woken’ and ‘Broken,’ but he is much the same person and the transition from one gimmick to the next works in the overall story.
The story between ‘The Eater of Worlds’ in Bray Wyatt and Hardy would continue, as Hardy ultimately turned ‘Woken,’ and finally announced the ‘Ultimate Deletion.’ Fans were treated to one of these in Impact Wrestling, which was loved by most, so WWE had an uphill battle trying to outdo it’s competition.
Yet it did exactly that. Fans loved the first WWE ‘Ultimate Deletion,’ with the fancy graphics, the hilarious segment but most of all- the way the Hardy family and Wyatt conducted themselves during the match.
WWE uploaded to their official YouTube channel the uncut entire ‘Ultimate Deletion’ for fans who were unable to watch due to being in attendance at the show or couldn’t see it on Hulu.
