Last week, media personality and longtime WWE fan Bill Simmons was fired by ESPN for comments made regarding NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. According to USA Today’s “The Big Lead,” Simmons received heat in particular for using a WWE-coined term to describe the commissioner on “The Dan Patrick Show.”
“I think it’s pathetic. He has handled so many things so badly — Roger Goodell — that it’s reached a point now where you have something like this, where it took four months to release the report, and he knew everything that was in it. He knows the results before the report is released to the public, and yet doesn’t have the testicular fortitude to do anything until he gauges the public reaction.”
The term “testicular fortitude,” of course, was one popularly coined during the Attitude Era many years ago.
WWE took to its fan account to respond to Simmons’ dismissal from the company:

As noted in the tweet, Simmons appeared on “RAW” earlier this year, serving in an announcer role. He got into it with JBL, and created a little scuffle on social media.
It is unknown at this time if WWE will seriously pursue Simmons for a role with the company.
Editor’s Note
Why not? Would bring star power, and would sure as heck be better than Mike Adamle.
