Former WCW mainstay and short-time WWE Superstar Bill Goldberg recently appeared at the Lexington Comic-Con, and spoke about several topics related to his wrestling career. Below are a few highlights.
Goldberg said he doesn’t keep in touch with today’s WWE product, but felt the company doesn’t care about fans anymore:
“It’s a totally different business man. It doesn’t seem as if they’re doing it for the fans anymore. They’re doing kind of what they want to do soap opera wise, and whether you guys like it or not, that’s kind of what you get.”
He recounted his rough match with William Regals on “Nitro,” where the veteran exposed the rookie in the ring:
“Steven Regal, I think it’s well-documented that he was a jerk when we had our match together. I was in a position where, I still feel guilty about the position I made it to in wrestling because there’s so many guys who work their butts off on independent circuits for years, and they never make it to a certain level. So when nine times out of 10, I’d have a match with somebody, especially somebody so senior and so experienced, I’d let them do anything they wanted to. Anything. And I was just there, and when it was time for me to clean them up, I cleaned them up. So I just followed guys, he kept kicking me in the head, forearming me, doing this, and I’m like ‘is this really the way it’s supposed to go?’ I don’t want to fight back, because if I take control in the match, I don’t know what to do, because I just didn’t know the business that well. So I couldn’t tell stories in the ring until the end, so I had to follow every single footstep of my opponent. I think that was probably the most difficult. I’d love to wrestle him right now, or kick-box him or whatever he wants. Oh god I’d pay money to get that opportunity.”
Goldberg also said he feels WWE will aim to ruin Sting at WrestleMania:
“I followed Sting in the business, and I love the guy to death. And he’s meant a lot to our business, a huge amount. And he’s the last guy left from WCW. Part of them needs to keep him strong to keep the storyline going, but I can guarantee you a part of them wants to squish him like a bug, because that will be the final nail in the coffin of WCW, because they did it to me. It should have been me and Triple H.”

Editor’s Note
He lost to only Triple H in WWE, so there may be sour grapes there. He also won a world title so…
