Former Ring of Honor star Davey Richards didn’t exactly leave the company on good terms. He and tag team partner Eddie Edwards eventually made their way to TNA and “IMPACT Wrestling,” where they have won multiple TNA Tag Team Championships.
In an interview with Sean Ross Sapp of WrestlingInc., Richards opened up about his departure from Ring of Honor:
“We didn’t part on the best of terms, but since then everything’s been okay. Joe Koff helped me when I broke my leg, and that was kind of him. I’ve always tried to help them and promote them on social media. I’ve talked to them and apologized for how things went down. At least on my side I hold no grudges and wish them nothing but the best.”
“IMPACT” was in the news at the end of last year for its signing with Destination America. Then, out of nowhere, Ring of Honor signed on with the station, leaving many to conclude it would be a catalyst towards TNA being canceled from the station. He discussed ROH securing the deal:
“I welcomed it. Everyone in TNA welcomed it because we want competition. We want someone who will inspire us to be our very best. I know Ring of Honor very well, they want competition too. These wrestling companies want to be the best in the world, and you can only be the best in the world with great competition. It’s been really good, I’m really happy with it, it’s great for wrestling fans obviously. It’s been a win-win for us.”
Among other highlights from the interview, Richards talks about being a full-time paramedic alongside attending school while maintaining life as a professional wrestler.
Editor’s Note
I think the situation with him and Ring of Honor will get smoothed over eventually. He’s part of one of the most popular tag teams to ever come out of there.
