One of the more well-known “feuds,” if you want to call it that, outside of the squared circle, consists of former WWF and WCW head writer Vince Russo and long-time wrestling journeyman Jim Cornette. The latter has never been shy about his ill-will towards Russo, who Cornette believes should have never held the high positions that he did in the then World Wrestling Federation. While the two were both working for the company, the two often butted heads on the booking committee. This eventually led to Cornette’s removal from the creative team.
Cornette is often critical of Russo’s controversial booking during the Attitude Era, which helped catapult WWF over Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling promotion. Cornette believed that Russo was always impatient, and would book “Monday Night Raw” like “The Jerry Springer Show.”
With Vince Russo’s reemergence on the Internet through his new website, Pyroandballyhoo.com, and Twitter account (@pyroballyhoo,) it was only a matter of time before the two found each other.
Early Wednesday morning on July 9, Russo tweeted about his desire to reconcile with Cornette:

This led to a follower of Russo’s to criticize Cornette, who then chimed in:

Russo would reply, maintaining his effort to make peace:

Cornette quickly put an end to Russo’s effort:

Afterwards, Russo still attempted to make amends with Cornette. Russo even invited Cornette to appear on Jim Ross’ “Ross Report” podcast to reconcile.

Editor’s Note
As a younger fan, I don’t have a wealth of knowledge as to why Cornette despises Russo, so my opinion on the matter should be taken lightly. Though, at the same time, it is 2014. Cornette should stop living in the past. We’re at a time where the Attitude Era was so long ago that it’s perfectly reasonable for those with past issues to be able to make amends.
