In a surprise move by WWE, Zack Ryder won the seven-man ladder match at Wrestlemania 32 last night and became the new Intercontinental Champion.

Maybe not everyone was surprised, but the crowd of over one hundred thousand in Dallas certainly were. He wasn’t receiving the strongest reaction in the AT&T Stadium during the match, but he got the win all the same.

WWE loves to tell a good story. There is no doubt that Zack Ryder going from last minute replacement after Neville was injured to IC Champion is a great story.

It was a very great detail in his reaction promo how he told the story of being at Wrestlemania 10 and taking a picture with Razor Ramon after he won “his” IC Championship in the famous ladder match with Shawn Michaels.

But now, Ryder can find him and take a picture with Razor while holding “his own” IC title was a magical moment. It was definitely the feel-good moment of the evening, and it was a surprise to be sure.

The only question now is what happens next. If WWE plays their cards right, Ryder could become a very big face over the next few months, but he’s really going to have to step his game up because he has a lot to prove about carrying a title, especially one coming off the shoulders of Kevin Owens.

Are you happy that Zack Ryder won the Intercontinental Championship at Wrestlemania?
