Asuka is the top woman in NXT by a large mile. It’s not just about the NXT Women’s division needing to rebuild the talent pool, she would have been dominate in the “Four Horsewomen” era of NXT, which would have made that era even more interesting.

She’s been so dominate that NXT brought in Mickie James to give her some challenging competition. Asuka vs. James is going to be a lot of fun, but no one is expecting Asuka to lose. Because of that, NXT officials are planning something else for her.

According to a report from CageSideSeats.com, we know WWE was planning for Asuka vs. Trish Stratus before Asuka vs. Mickie James was booked for NXT Takeover: Toronto. Trish being from Toronto wasn’t the only reason why WWE wanted her for the match.

Apparently, the Trish match was designed so NXT could turn Asuka heel in Toronto because the crowd would have been in favor of Stratus being in the ring again. Now, it is being reported that nothing has changed and she is expected to turn heel next month.

The interesting thing about Asuka is her face run has been due to her talent in the ring, but her persona could easily flip to heel at the drop of a hat. In fact, she’d be great at it.
