At this point, it’s well known that Daniel Bryan’s current WWE contract is set to expire on September 1st. He has yet to sign an extension with the company and WWE officials are refusing to give him a significant push on SmackDown Live until he signs a contract extension and proves he can stay healthy on a full-time schedule as an active wrestler.

There’s a lot of speculation about Bryan’s WWE future after this summer, but most fans expect the two sides to reach an agreement eventually. It’s been confirmed that Bryan is negotiating with WWE, but Bryan is asking for some major stipulations in his new deal.

According to a new report from DirtySheets, Daniel Bryan is insisting for some kind of a “reasonable creative control” clause in his new contract. His intention isn’t to abuse that power. Bryan is focused on his long-term booking and wants more input regarding who he works with on television. Bryan is also demanding a huge rivalry with Brock Lesnar.

WWE officials have only granted a creative control clause to Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart in the last forty years. Daniel Bryan doesn’t seem like the kind of person who would use the clause to “bury” anyone. It’s obvious that he’s trying to protect himself. However, it’s understandable why WWE officials would be hesitant to give Bryan that much power.

When WWE officials push him properly, Daniel Bryan can do amazing things:

Triple H agrees to face Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 30: Raw, March 10, 2014

His current WWE contract won’t expire for three months. The two sides still have some time to discuss the possibilities, but Bryan could still leave the company if his demands aren’t met. The WWE Universe has no choice but to wait and see what happens next.

Do you believe Daniel Bryan deserves a “creative control” clause?
