A huge element of the tragedy of Eddie Guerrero’s death is the question of what could have been? How would Eddie’s career have progressed and moved on over the years? Would Eddie Guerrero be in WWE today, or could he be in Lucha Underground?

Sadly, we’ll never know the answer to those questions. But today on the tenth anniversary of Guerrero’s death, Busted Open of Sirus XM Radio did a tribute special in Latino Heat’s honor.

Both Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero appeared on today’s show to help Busted Open honor and share stories about Eddie. Court Bauer, who was a WWE creative writer at the time of Eddie’s death, was also on the show and offered insight into the original plans for Wrestlemania 22.

Supposedly, the plans were for Eddie Guerrero to go one-on-one with The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 22. According to Bauer, WWE had a huge conference call right before Eddie’s death in 2005, and that was the plan going forward.

It’s possible that match could have changed or maybe, we would have gotten to see Guerrero vs. Michaels at Wrestlemania. That truly would have been something else to see on the grandest stage of them all. Nothing against HBK vs. Vince McMahon at that event, but Eddie vs. Shawn would have been one for the history books.
