Stu Bennett was released by WWE shortly after Wrestlemania 32. It had been reported that he was unhappy with his position in WWE and wanted to regroup out of wrestling.

Honestly, a lot of people were hoping to see him get into Ring of Honor. It seems like a good place for him to go. Other thought he would end up in TNA, but that’s quickly becoming a graveyard. However, he may end up right back in WWE after all.

According to a report from Four3Four.com, WWE officials may have reached out to him about a potential return to WWE. The details are unclear, but Bennett may be back on a full-time or part-time basis. Everything depends on if he is actually interested.

SmackDown seems like the place for him to be right now. He’d potentially be able to get into the main event scene there, which is likely the only reason he’d be interested in a WWE return after spending years on the cusp of becoming a top guy without success.

There is no question that Wade Barrett, Bad News Barrett, King Barrett, or whatever moniker he was carrying had a lot of untapped potential in WWE. Absence can make the heart grow fonder. It may behoove everyone involved to give it another go.
