As the WWE Universe prepares for the 1000th edition of SmackDown in history, there’s one big question that’s yet to be answered. The Rock’s status for the show remains up in the air despite some rumors circulating that he may be setting up his next match. There must be some kind of appearance for The Great One even if he’s not in Washington D.C.

According to a report from the  Wrestling Observer, The People’s Champion is expected to have a pre-taped promo for the show rather than a live appearance. Since The Rock is in London filming a spin-off of the Fast and Furious series, he’s likely unavailable or he has a really strict schedule that requires him to run in and out of the Captial One Arena.

If that’s the case, it’s highly unlikely WWE officials are planning anything major for The Great One during tonight’s show. Unless he’s setting up a second appearance or a match for Crown Jewel, there’s no reason to force an angle. The important thing is to give the fans something to see because it would be silly for The Rock to not even show his face.

On paper, the easiest thing to do would be introducing the show through a taped promo because it doesn’t require anything but some production work to make it official. There shouldn’t be an expectation that The Rock must appear in person because WWE hasn’t been his priority for many years. He hasn’t appeared on WWE television for some time.

Although, that’s why the WWE Universe is anticipating his involvement. The bright side is whether The People’s Champion appears in person or via satellite, most rumors about The Rock’s WWE status will be answered. The only thing to do now is watch the show.

Would you be disappointed if The Rock doesn’t show during SmackDown 1000?
