The Rock’s status for WrestleMania 35 remains a frequent topic of conversation. After Roman Reigns went down with his recent diagnosis, it seems that WWE officials have been working hard to replace him in some way. The People’s Champion returning for a final comeback may be extremely helpful to get the company through this rough patch.

WWE officials need to offer him something huge to make a return worth it. A big match with Roman Reigns could have been great, but more people would be interested to see him face AJ Styles or possibly Brock Lesnar. However, a new report from RingSideNews claims that WWE officials are considering a big match with Bobby Lashley for The Rock.

On paper, Lashley vs. Rock is an interesting situation. Lashley just turned heel and he could reach new heights by WrestleMania. The rub he would get by beating The Rock would be huge. However, the two men have no history and their pairing would not be something overly interesting. In a promo battle, The Great One would destroy Lashley.

WWE officials are also treating Bobby Lashley much differently than most expected. It’s been an uneventful return for him so pushing him into a feud with The Rock may force him into an unwinnable situation. The fact is The People’s Champion can work a better feud with a top heel like Kevin Owens or Elias that would be far more entertaining.

The problem with this entire scenario is The Rock needs to approve of the match and be willing to wrestle again. He needs to agree to the return before anything can happen. As of this writing, he wouldn’t even be featured via satellite during SmackDown 1000. The fans shouldn’t hold their breath about him wrestling on the grandest stage of them all.
