Carmella lost to Nikki Bella at “No Mercy” on Sunday, but their feud is going to continue based on what happened last night on SmackDown Live.

This isn’t a great feud, but it’s obviously what WWE is trying to do here. They’re trying to build Nikki as a face, push “Total Bellas,” establish Carmella as a heel, and help the Women’s Division of SmackDown. It’s a good plan, but is it really working thus far?

For Carmella, this heel run has been really confusing because she can’t seem to find a comfortable spot on WWE programming, and the powers that be aren’t making it easy.

In NXT, she was universally loathed for that princess attitude. Over time, she gained the acceptance of the audience alongside Enzo and Big Cass, but they can get anything over.

She was accepted, not “over” with the NXT crowd, so her transition to the main roster seemed rushed to some people. Now, she’s being booked as a heel, but her persona isn’t necessarily heel. Her music is bouncy and the dancing is something a face would do.

Because of that, the WWE Universe doesn’t know what to do with her because it really doesn’t seem like WWE officials know either. It makes sense that Carmella is struggling to find her place on SmackDown, but this is hopefully something that just takes time.

Do you think Carmella is getting over on SmackDown?
