For the past few years, WWE has presented the Warrior Award to a worthy person who displayed great courage and strength during a tough time in their lives. It has served as a wonderful platform to celebrate the life of some inspiring figures. It has already been reported by PWInsider that next year’s inductee at WrestleMania 35 has been chosen.

Earlier this week, the former Tough Enough Winner Matt Cappotelli passed away after a long battle with cancer. The wrestling community was greatly impacted by his death. A lot of people would appreciate Cappotelli being given the spotlight during WrestleMania weekend. Mike Johnson of PWInsider Elite is reporting that’s what WWE has planned.

“There has been people in private conversations say “hey, we should have him be awarded the Warrior Award next year.” I don’t know if it’s actually anything that will build up to anything but we’ll see. They did mention to me that there have been discussions in their circle how Cappotelli should be honored with The Warrior Award. I’m all for it. I think it’s a cool idea. I think it would be a positive way to remind everyone of a fighter he was. What a warrior he was and to raise some awareness to brain cancer.”

The WWE Universe will always wonder what Cappotelli could have done with WWE:

It’s a tragedy that Matt Cappotelli’s wrestling career was taken away from him after he was revealed to have brain cancer. His fight over the next 13 years inspired touched a lot of people within the business. WWE acknowledging his importance to the industry would be a great use of the Warrior Award during next year’s Hall of Fame ceremony.
