There were rumblings of WWE repackaging Los Matadores a few months ago. The Los Matadores have been lukewarm at best in the WWE Tag Team division. All due respect, but their momentum has been non-existent for years of WWE programming. They’ve ultimately been used as a jobber tag team with a little bit of humor involving El Torito. WWE is looking to alter that perception of Primo and Epico.

The reason why the Los Matadores are currently off WWE television is for the WWE Universe to erase or forget the tag team. The plan for WWE is to repackage them as something new and bring them back at some point.

Over the summer, Carlito was rumored to be negotiating a return to WWE. If a deal had been reached, Carlito would have joined Primo and Epico to make the team a trio, and then the three would have been repackaged as something else. However, WWE reportedly offered Carlito a low ball offer that was turned down and the two sides haven’t been able to work out a deal to this point.

There is no word on what the plans are for Primo and Epico once they make their return or what kind of gimmick they will have at that time. There will be more on this story over the coming weeks or even months.
