The most direct effect of Seth Rollins injury is that the original plans surrounding Roman Reigns and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship have changed.

The original plans called for Roman Reigns to win the WWE Championship before the end of the year. According to Wrestling Observer Radio,  Reigns was set to defeat Seth Rollins and win the title at “Survivor Series” later this month.

Dave Meltzer noted the following statement on the original plans for Reigns vs. Rollins at “Survivor Series”:

“Roman was going to win it at Survivor Series, that was the plan, I figured it, but I didn’t know for sure, but in fact it is for sure, he was going to win it at Survivor Series, I don’t know if he’s going to win the tournament, because they have to get a heel hot.”

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament has been announced a new WWE Champion will be crowned at “Survivor Series”. However, WWE has yet to announce who will participate in the tournament that begins on Raw tonight.

Meltzer’s words about “getting a heel hot” are interesting. There is a lot of speculation that Roman Reigns could be involved in a heel turn. However, those plans haven’t been confirmed.

Reigns isn’t necessarily the frontrunner to win the WWE Championship. There will be much more information on the long terms plans as WWE gives more details on the tournament tonight on Raw.
