“Extreme Rules” event is about adding stipulations to feuds in order to give a proper payoff or to up the ante and the tension of the feud to a boiling point.

Every once in awhile, it’s an opportunity to create a new stipulation or a new match, which is exactly what Dean Ambrose did tonight on Monday Night Raw.

First, Ambrose called out Chris Jericho and challenged him to a match for “Extreme Rules” this Sunday. After Jericho had accepted, The Lunatic Fringe revealed the first “Asylum match” for them.

The rules haven’t been made very clear as of this writing, but it’s essentially a cage match that is surrounded by weapons on the top of the cage.

The entire idea of an asylum is that you’re trapped, so it’s possible that you can’t win the match by escaping the cage. However, being trapped in there with an opponent and a ton of weapons could make a unique match.

The feud between Ambrose and Y2J has been very good. Mostly, that has been due to their antics to build tension, but when the time came to do the work in the ring at “Payback,” they delivered a very good match.

They’ll most likely do the same thing this weekend, but this is also expected to be the last match of their feud with “Money in the Bank” on the horizon.
