Tonight’s edition of Monday Night Raw started off with the Battle Royal to determine the No. 1 contender for The Miz’s Intercontinental Championship.

Although it came down to Alberto Del Rio, Apollo Crews, Baron Corbin, and Darren Young, it was the latter who survived to become the No. 1 contender for The Miz’s IC title.

It was a little unexpected to see Darren Young back in a WWE ring, especially with Bob Backlund at ringside watching his protege. There were reports over the weekend that the duo pairing wasn’t doing very well.

However, as Young celebrated with the WWE Hall of Famer, the WWE crowd in Detroit cheered for Young, so it looks like “Making Darren Young Great Again” is off and running.

Now, Darren Young has a shot at the Intercontinental Championship and The Miz, which will most likely take place at “Battleground” next weekend.

Darren Young has had some success as a part of The Nexus and a tag team wrestler as one-half of The Primetime Players. Young getting a singles push is not only interesting, but it’ll be interesting to see if the WWE Universe really gets behind him over the next few weeks.

Are you excited to see Darren Young get a singles push?
