Rumor: Daniel Bryan Refusing to Go to Saudi Arabia For ‘Crown Jewel’

With all the controversy surrounding WWE’s ‘Crown Jewel’ event, WWE officials knew they were going to run into some issues when they didn’t cancel the show. According to a report from DirtySheets, WWE officials have told the locker room that anyone who is uncomfortable going to Saudi Arabia can request not to go. Some of the rumored names who have requested not to go are Dean Ambrose and most importantly, Daniel Bryan.

It’s not that Ambrose and Cena aren’t extremely important to the show’s success, but Daniel Bryan is challenging AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel. It’s been rumored that he could also be winning the title at the event. However, if Bryan doesn’t want to go to Saudi Arabia, that forces WWE to rebook the WWE Title match.

On paper, there’s no reason why Bryan’s WWE Title victory could happen at Survivor Series instead of Crown Jewel. A lot of people are going to say that Daniel Bryan will be punished for not being a “team player.” However, WWE is doing some damage control and giving WWE Superstars an out for the event is their way of protecting the company.

It’s very unlikley that Bryan or anyone will be punished for not wanting to go. The only issue will be to find AJ Styles another opponent if Bryan does not go to Saudi Arabia. If WWE offiicals are serious about the title change; it doesn’t matter who Styles faces at the event because the long term plan is Bryan vs. Styles at Survivor Series and beyond.

This will be an ongoing situation because if names like Cena, Ambrose, and Bryan are pulling out of the event, it’s really likely other WWE Superstars will follow their lead.
