Bret Hart Returning to WWE at “Payback”

Over two years ago, Charlotte won her NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Takeover: Arrival in the finals of the Women’s NXT title tournament over Natalya.

The match was the first for Charlotte and Natalya, and it was a unique mix of history and a great match that showcased the next era of women’s wrestling in NXT. It was Hart vs. Flair of this generation, and it was made complete with Ric Flair in Charlotte’s corner and Bret “Hitman” Hart in Natalya corner during the match.

It seems WWE is bringing back that situation, but putting it on the bigger stage of “Payback.” It was announced by Natalya during a backstage segment with Charlotte that Shane McMahon has granted her a rematch with Charlotte for the WWE Women’s Championship at “Payback”, but this time, she’d have Bret” Hitman” Hart in her corner with The Nature Boy doing the same for Charlotte.

It’s a great story for both women to tell and it’s very cool to see Hart vs. Flair on the outside to neutralize the situation and let the wrestling do the heavy lifting.

What’s going to be really great is this will be Bret Hart’s return to WWE since his recent fight with cancer and you know he’s going to get a very warm reception from the WWE Universe.
