Earlier today, it was reported right here that the current NXT Champion Finn Balor may have suffered some type of leg or ankle injury during a match with Samoa Joe at last night’s NXT live event in Nashville, TN.

After the event, Balor was seen using crutches and not moving well on his own at all. He was also seen being loaded into a car with the assistance of others.

NXT has another live event later on tonight in Indianapolis that Balor was expected to wrestle on the show. However, it is now being reported by WWE.com that Balor is officially being pulled off that show with an ankle injury of some kind. WWE.com made the following statement about his injury status:

NXT Champion Finn Bálor suffered an ankle injury on Saturday during an NXT Live Event in Nashville, Tenn. According to WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann, “Finn Bálor suffered an ankle injury, and will be unable to compete tonight.”

The NXT Champion will undergo further evalution on Monday, Amann said.

Unfortunately, now we have to wait to see what Dr. Amann and WWE’s medical staff think about Finn Balor’s ankle, but this could be a major loss not only for NXT, but it could mean the end of Balor’s NXT Championship title reign.

The loss of Balor could also force WWE to reevaluate the next few months of NXT programming with some much new talent coming in and potentially going to the main roster, including Samoa Joe, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Austin Aries.
