Backstage News On James Ellsworth’s Future in WWE

People can say whatever they want about James Ellsworth, but he’s still being featured on WWE programming after only being booked in an enhancement match on Raw.

Sure, he’s kind of the butt of the joke. Of course, he’s just being used to put over Dean Ambrose vs. AJ Styles, but that doesn’t matter when the WWE Universe gets behind you like they are with Ellsworth. He’s doing what he can with the spot, which is great.

According to a report from RingSideNews, the “limited time” t-shirt that WWE released for him is currently the top selling item on WWE Shop. As strange as it sounds, he’s currently outselling merchandise from Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Goldberg’s return.

Obviously, WWE is going to want to keep Ellsworth around. During a recent interview with CBS Sports, he revealed that he doesn’t know how much longer he’s going to be on WWE television, but he’s going to continue enjoying the ride.

There are currently some rumors about him getting a number in the “Royal Rumble” match, which could be fun. We don’t know if he’ll continue to be kept on SmackDown outside of the title picture. It’s likely James Ellsworth isn’t going anywhere for awhile.
