Kia Stevens, otherwise known as Awesome Kong and Kharma has officially retired from professional wrestling.

According to the Japanese wrestling news site battle-news.com, Stevens retired from pro wrestling yesterday by announcing it on their website. Naturally, the website is in Japanese, so a translation is necessary to get the official retirement statement. The following is a poor translation, but the best we could find:

“First, I sincerely apologize that it cannot compete in the 25-day Korakuen Hall. Began feeling the accident from this fall to their own physical condition, but has worked in demodulation while visits Today to the state fight with even become (USA 21 date) Japan is in the far state. That you go up to the ring in this state, to compete in the fan of everyone and 25 day Korakuen Hall, As well as hitting the rude for all players, it was suggested to retire from wrestling from the doctor. It’s really a pity but not carried out last game along with my respect to players in Japan, Kia Stevens does not rise to anymore of Japan ring. I have decided to retire from just wrestling.

Because I was come continued to active duty so far there was a group called the All Japan Women’s Pro-Wrestling. And thanks to all seniors and friends who gave me lovingly as his sister is a foreigner. Sincerely I am grateful to all professional wrestling officials and fans of everyone in Japan.

And women’s wrestling in Japan, including the SEAdLINNNG I wish you from the bottom of my heart to be more and more development. Kia Stevens will retire from professional wrestling Thank you very much until now.”

The cause of her retirement is as stated related to her health. Steven’s decision to hang up her boots is the final nail in what was an amazing career. Even wrestling fans that didn’t pay attention to other promotions aside from WWE knew about Awesome Kong.
Kong was an NWA World Women’s Champion and an AWA Superstars Women’s Champion. She was the WWWA World Heavyweight Champion for All Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling. For TNA, she was a two-time TNA Knockouts Champion, a TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion, 2015’s Queen of the Knockouts.
Those are just some of her accomplishments in the industry, but WWE fans will remember her as Kharma. Her WWE career was stalled by a pregnancy, and her health issues began there that ultimately led to her final retirement from the industry yesterday.
Make no mistake, Awesome Kong is a great name in the history of women’s wrestling. Her feud with Gail Kim was pivotal in the development of women’s wrestling in TNA and in the industry as a whole.  All wrestling fans owe her a thank you for what she has done for the wrestling business and women’s wrestling.
All of us here at Wrestling Rumors would like to thank Kia Stevens for her contributions and wish her the absolute best for her future. Thank you, Awesome Kong.
