The WWE is currently considering hiring James Ellsworth to a full-time deal.

According to PWInsider, there’s been a push backstage in the last week to see Ellsworth signed to a full-time contract. One of the driving factors in the debate is down to the sale of Ellsworth’s merchandise sales. Specifically, his limited run t-shirt, which managed to outsell the likes of Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and the recently-returned Goldberg.

Should WWE eventually decide to take on Ellsworth full-time, it’s not clear whether he’d stay with his current character or head to developmental for a potential repackaging. We’ll let you know once we know more.

In a recent episode of the Hit the Ropes podcast, and hot off the heels of a win over AJ Styles, Ellsworth expressed his desire to return to RAW and take one more shot at defeating Braun Strowman.

“Like I always say. It doesn’t matter whether it’s Miz, or if it’s Strowman, or it’s the WWE world champ AJ Styles,” said Ellsworth, “when I get in there, I have a chance, because any man with two hands has a fighting chance!”
