What could have been. We are getting pretty far down the Road To WrestleMania 39 and that means things are starting to come together. You can see a lot of the matches that are planned for the show and there is little mystery left for most of the company’s bigger names. That does not mean that we are seeing the original lineup though, and now we know something else that was planned for the show.

According to Fightful Select, WWE had originally planned for John Cena to face Logan Paul at WrestleMania 39. However, around mid to late December, plans changed with the focus being more towards Cena vs. Austin Theory. There is no word on why WWE made the change and switched to Cena vs. Theory and Paul vs. Seth Rollins. Cena and Theory had seeds planted for a match when Cena made an appearance on Monday Night Raw in June 2022.

Opinion: This is the kind of change that does make sense, as Cena vs. Theory had already been started and Rollins might work better with Paul’s style anyway. What matters is that we should be getting a pair of good matches at WrestleMania, as the idea is to load the card up with as many big ones as possible. Hopefully both of them deliver, and given the talent involved, that shouldn’t be a problem.
