Yeah that would work. There are certain wrestling stars who are going to get attention no matter what they do. These names are very rare and a lot of their ability to draw an audience is based on what they have done over the course of their career. That is the case with a certain name that WWE is attempting to bring in for one of their biggest shows in a long time.

According to F4WOnline.com, WWE is attempting to have John Cena appear at the July 16 SmackDown in Houston, Texas. There is currently no deal in place to have Cena make an appearance, though it is something WWE is hoping to get done. The show will mark the first time since March 2020 that WWE has been out of the state of Florida and the first event with a full capacity of fans.

Cena has mostly left WWE to focus on an acting career and has been filming Peacemaker, a spinoff of the Suicide Squad film. Despite his acting commitments, Cena has still made occasional appearances for WWE, including facing Bray Wyatt in a Firefly Fun House match at WrestleMania 36. His most recent traditional match took place in January 2019. There is no word on when or if Cena will wrestle again.

Cena has made some great returns before. Check out some of his best:

Opinion: It really wouldn’t surprise me to see Cena appear at the show, even if it is little more than a one off cameo. At the same time, a match at Summerslam would not stun me if it is something that his schedule can accommodate. Cena is not a wrestler these days, but he is someone WWE would love to have around every chance they could. He is one of the biggest stars the company has ever had and if they can have him around, I’m sure it will help out a lot.
